Time….
God takes us through life and He leads us towards certain decisions that usually do not make sense in the now, but are seeds planted for tomorrow.
Something doesn’t feel right? What do we do?
Well, we are spirit beings, we are expected to investigate. I don’t think God will ever feel threatened by our questions, no matter what they mean, or how they are posed to Him. If He was ever sensitive to how we viewed life, circumstances, and situations, and how we interpreted things we just don’t understand yet, then He wouldn't have confidently given us ‘free-will’. Atheists are confidently atheists because our God is not threatened by our beliefs or lack thereof.
So ask Him.
Why?
What does this mean?
Tell Him you don’t understand.
Tell Him it was not what you imagined. It was not the plan. It’s not what you wanted. Tell Him everything!
Honestly, He is the only one I completely trust with the rawness of my thoughts and actions. He is the only one I completely trust with all of me, all the parts. He is the only One with answers. He is the only One who truly sees, not just who I am, and what I’m saying, but even the parts of me I don’t yet know about, and more than anything, He holds tomorrow in His hands, so I trust Him to redirect me, even when I think I have things figured out, and I think I am on the right track.
So….Seasons?
Our lives are marked by seasons. Society, family, the world have succeeded in painting pictures ingrained so deeply in us that we think they are ours, but are truly what others, and life have subtly planted in us. What are truly our wants and desires, stem from our life experiences, no matter how hard we try to assume it doesn’t and that it’s purely ours.
God is the only One who can show us the reality of life as it is, without any trace of bias or influence from our experiences.
Ask yourself, what do you really want? Why? And for whom?
If you choose to live your life for God, you need to ask yourself these questions too. And be honest with your answers, no matter how right or wrong they sound. If you desire to be truly honest, God helps you there too, and you have to be prepared for the answers and even if you deny it at first, don’t allow denial to stay longer than is necessary.
Then ask God what He wants, and be prepared to hear different from what you thought He wanted. It’s always different. He is the only One who can reveal His actual desires to us. We cannot assume His desires for us. We align with Him for a reason. Because there is so much we can see through our biases.
What exactly am I saying with this lol?
Our lives, our different seasons, the trajectory we move in and towards, He holds that, and we need to trust that when He leads us, He only leads, to His best for us. Most times, it does not look like it just yet. It’s not what we imagined. It’s not what we assumed because of our innate biases, but I can always assure anyone that HE ALWAYS LEADS US TO THE BEST FOR US! Even if it’s to death (Because we only die once, never to die again.)
It will always be about tomorrow, and eternity. He leads us to an everlasting end result, never a temporary one.
We say we want God to lead us. We say we will follow Him till eternity, to the end of our days. We sing it. We speak it confidently. We say we are servants of God. We say we will do all He tells us to do. But we are not always prepared for that instruction when it doesn’t sound like what we actually thought He would say, or what we thought it should be, or it leads us in a different direction to what we actually assume our life should look like.
Some people’s destinies lie in building kingdom families and just living a normal Christian life, where they go as far as representing Christ to their communities alone. No wealth or affluence to their name.
Some people’s destinies lie in affluence for the purpose of influence and being catalysts for change, and dare I say, some of these people may not need to get married. Some are able to make it work, being of service to their families AND their world, fulfilling their destinies, but not everyone needs to carry this, especially if they know they can’t.
Some people’s destinies lie in missionary work, some might take on families, some don’t need to. And this missionary work is different for everyone. Some people do theirs through churches and organisations, some do through their jobs and positions, because it gives them access to certain groups and classes of people.
Because at the core of our mission on this earth, is not just telling everyone about Jesus Christ, it goes deeper than that. The Gospel is deeper than that. It’s literally the salvation of mankind. Everyone coming to the knowledge and understanding of what it truly means when we say salvation. And it says, in the Bible, that on judgment day, no one would have the excuse of not hearing the gospel.
“How is that even possible?" I asked God.
“Everyone fulfils their actual destinies.” He said.
So back to seasons. We go through them, all of us, and as much as everyone likes to think that they have a level of control of their actions and lives, the Grand Plan is simple, ‘no one has an excuse!’ And to not have an excuse, they must know and understand The Gospel. And for that to happen, we have to yield to the seasons of our lives. We have to yield to the how, where, when, to whom, God leads us.
It may not make sense now…
It may take a person’s whole life…
We may not go in predicted directions, or choose common paths….
Some of our paths will look and sound foreign, not bend to the norm, be far fetched, be outrageous.
But With God….
It will always be the right path.
Seasons come and go, but my word remains the same forever. (paraphrased).
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8.
Embrace His seasons. No matter how they look. Whether you understand them or you don’t. Don’t force your life into a societal construct or mould that is not yours. Allow Him. We have to allow Him.
